"A 1000 Cities of Joy" says Dominique Lapierre
HOPE GLOBE TROTTERS
3 guys went to meet signs of hope around the world (solidarity, personal initiative, sustainable development, cultural renewal…), traveling by an old car, train and bus.

This book has been translated into 6 languages. But we are still looking for an english speaking publisher!
The english version is prefaced by CELINE DION

Sumary :
"There are always a thousand suns on the other side of clouds", goes the Indian saying. Filled with that deep conviction, three young men have trekked the planet for one year, meeting those who fight against despair, those who make the world better. They wanted to take the opposite view of the media which depress people by emphasizing catastrophes and the darker side of the news. Is that the world? Why consider only sadness, weariness and destruction, while so many things in the world can fill you with enthusiasm, freedom and happiness?

These "Hope Globetrotters" convinced sponsors to finance their quest, appearing on TV, radio, and magazines to discuss their initiative. To cross the desert, they bought a very old car. It came to be known as "Cindy." Some laughed at their goal; others laughed at their car. Nevertheless, neither deep sand nor a terrible crash could prevent them from achieving their aim, and Cindy crossed the desert. Hope and friendship ruled their journey!

Some examples of people Loïc, Nicolas and Christian found inspiring hope:

- How Chilean, Bangladeshis or Filipinos launched their micro-company thanks to loans from "banks of the poor."
- How lawyers took street children out of a "child prison."
- Bertrand, a new manager in France refusing to lay off 600 employees but instead saving his company by stimulating communication and instilling accountability.
- How a radio speaker in Niger educates the children from bush villages.
- How Muslims and Christian enemies in the war in Lebanon reconciliate themselves.
- How an ex-dealer fights against drugs from his Manila prison cell.
- How a couple give hope to 500 children tortured in Cambodia.
- How Marella, a Dutch girl teaches marketing to Vietnamese craftsmen-helping them to diversificate their production.

This non-fiction novel, full of humor and tenderness, is a testament to life, cracking the wall of despair and inviting the reader to continue opening the way to hope.

Data and ratings :

- 3rd on amazon.fr in March, 10th on a national general rating made by the first daily paper (Le Parisien) in April, 5th on book shops "La Procure" and 4th on "Siloe" in December.

- More 25.000 copies sold in France (before the Pocket edition), around 60.000 in the world for the moment.

- Became a best seller while the authors were totally unknown from the public.

- The theme is very easy to "sell" to the media. More than 150 articles and interviews most of them in the most well known national media (TV, press and Radio) in France. (TF1, Canal+, Figaro Madame, France-Info, Europe1, NRJ, Le Monde…)

- Rights sold to 6 éditors:
o Germany ("Frederking &Thaler" a Random House/Bertelsman publisher)
o Italy (San Paulo)
o Sweden
o Korea
o Estonia
o Russia
o Soon in a pocket version Universal-Pocket, a VUP company. (in France)

- A web site with 600 pictures, readers letters… We can translate into your language.

- The authors give 50% of their rights to an NGO in your country (it is also a selling argument to set on the back cover). You can find this NGO as a promotion partner.

Readers letters (extract from thousands email and letters)

From Céline DION
" (…)To sow hope in the heart of other men. It is very beautiful. You have, dear trio of hope, all my admiration. (…)" Celine Dion (extract from her preface)

Your book against suicide… like a Prozac!
It is not a long time since I made a suicide attempt. Reading your book gives the desire to go on living. Perhaps you saved my life...
Pamela, student, 25 years old.

For our 30 grandchildren
We just offered your book to our 30 grandchildren. Your book enchanted the whole family. Thank you so much guys. We would wish to make a donation to the NGO you talk about in Philippines and to this man in USA. Can you give me their addresses?
Pierrette Maigret, 62 years old.

Thanks to you I left my consulting company for a bank for the poorest
When I finished your book, I decided to leave 2 years for an NGO in the Philippines. I am now there and I am so happy to bring my competencies for development. But the best is that the people here bring much more to me.
Stephan, 30 years old, consultant

Many readers said that this book made them leave as a volunteer for a social work or humanitarian mission.

Thanks to you I had a good grade to my exams !
I am 17 years old and I liked very much your travel which captivated me during many hours (does Cindy the car will hold-on in the desert ???) and which really made me reflect. It is the first book I read so quickly! I also thank you because, thanks to you, I got a very good grade on my exams for the Baccalaureate. Let me explain : By chance, I fell on a subject where one asked me to write the speech of a politician, giving reasons to hope in a better world... It was exactly the subject of your marvelous book. I thus took some of your so strong and so beautiful anecdotes, and bingo I succeed with an A+!
